And we ask early about the preferred date: around Carnival, entire stretches of street are closed, and a move that week is not planning — it is a risk.

Frequently asked questions from Köln

Do I need a furniture lift in an old building?
Not always, but for sofas, wardrobes and pianos from the third floor upwards it usually saves more time than it costs. We decide that during the survey based on the stairwell, not over the phone.

What about Carnival season?
In the days around Weiberfastnacht and Rosenmontag many Veedel streets are closed and no-parking zones are practically unenforceable. We advise against moving dates that week and suggest alternatives.

Why a no-parking zone on both sides?
Because on many Köln streets the van would otherwise block the roadway and loading would be constantly interrupted. The extra cost for the second side is less than the time lost.
