In the north — Altenessen, Katernberg and Karnap — multi-family houses and estate housing dominate. Paths inside the building are shorter here, but the roadside is full and stairwells are narrower. That is why in Essen we ask for basement photos earlier than elsewhere: they decide whether one van is enough or two trips are needed.
